Jim's Beagle Hike to Monrovia Canyon Falls - Saturday, March 31, 2007 8:30AM
Posted by Account Removed in Los Angeles, CA (03/27/2007)Monrovia Canyon Park Nature Center
1200 N. Canyon Blvd.
Monrovia , CA 91016
We'll park and meet at the Nature Center at 8:30am (see the simpsoncity web site below for a map of the park and trail details) and hike approximately 1.5 miles roundtrip, taking the Nature Center trail. Arrive early to get a parking spot at the Nature Center (bring $5 cash for park entry), or park below at the Cabin (see map) and walk up the paved road to the Nature Center. The hike is hilly/moderately steep at times and is a beginner-intermediate trail with two small stream crossings - you can go at your own pace. The trail is completely shaded by woods and trees, so bring a light jacket if it is cool. Bring light hiking gear like poop-scoop bags, water, a snack for you and the dogs to enjoy at the falls, a hiking stick if you have one, and of course your camera - you will definitely want to take lots and lots of photos once we reach the waterfall!
Note - the trail is cleared and maintained throughout the year, but poison oak does grow in the area. Please bring a regular leash and avoid retractable leads so we can keep our dogs on the trail.
