My name is Erin. My husband and I live in Lake Forest California. We adopted our first dog Jimmy in October 2004. My husband had never had a dog before, and he wasn't sure he liked the idea. After bringing Jimmy home, it was instant love. We then started to volunteer for a rescue organization in September of 2005. We have fostered countless dogs, and I have driven to the South Los Angeles shelter more times than I can count to rescue dogs. We welcomed our second dog Chloe into our family in September of 2005. She was a 6 year old cattle dog that was saved from the Long Beach shelter on her last day. She was severely deformed, and had a harder time getting around than most dogs. She was the 2nd love of our lives until she suddenly got sick, and we lost her in February of 2006. It was devastating for both Jimmy and ourselves. We then rescued Birdy in April of 2006. She is a 10 year old German Shorthaired Pointer that was found in a field in Georgia with heartworm and starving to death. Her rescuer spent countless amounts of time and money to get rid of the heartworm, and then she made her journey to Southern California. She was with Love 4 Canines (dog rescue) for a year with no prospects of adoption. The MINUTE I saw her, I knew she would be the perfect dog for our family. We adopted her, and Jimmy was instantly in love again. Birdy was used as a breeding dog, and was bred almost to death. She was in horrible condition, having buckshot from a shotgun all over her body. She is missing most of her teeth, and has scars all over her body. We found out she had malignant mammary cancer in June of 2006. She had a radical mastectomy, and has been cancer free for 8 months now. She is enjoying her 2nd puppyhood! We are a happy family, and love our pups SO MUCH! They enjoy going to the Bark Park in Irvine, and LOVE to be in the car. It doesn't even matter if there's a destination. They also get so excited when they see another dog. They want to play with everyone. Birdy sings and dances to get the other dog's attention.
